A Lay Eucharistic minister serves the church community by taking communion from the principal Sunday service to those members of the congregation who are in the hospital or homebound and cannot attend regular worship.

Lay Eucharistic ministers are trained for this ministry and sanctioned through the Diocesan Office.
They usually go with an experienced minister for the first several visits.
There is a service booklet available to use for those who feel more comfortable using a standardized service format.
