What Is a Jubilee Ministry Center?

Christ Episcopal Church, designated by the Executive Council of the Episcopal Church as a Jubilee Ministry Center since 1997, actively engages in the mission of Jubilee to make a direct link between theology and faith practice: to walk the talk of our faith.  We strive through Jubilee Ministries to live the ways of Matthew 25:

"For I was hungry and you gave Me food; 
I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; 
I was a stranger and you took Me in; 
I was naked and you clothed Me; 
I was sick and you visited Me; 
I was in prison and  you came to Me." 

Jubilee ministry at Christ Church is not focused on any one single ministry. Everyone is encouraged and supported to live out their own baptismal covenant. Therefore, we are a Jubilee Ministries Parish — where we work together daily to fulfill the Jubilee Mission.

And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly, and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.

Jubilee and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

In two successive General Conventions, the Episcopal Church committed itself to eliminating extreme global poverty by working through the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The goals were developed by the leaders of the world’s nations, in cooperation with the United Nations. Through the ministries within Jubilee, Christ Church joins in bringing to fulfillment these goals.

The Millennium Development Goals are:

1. End Poverty and Hunger

2. Universal Education

3. Gender Equality

4. Child Health

5. Maternal Health

6. Combat HIV/AIDS

7. Environmental Sustainability

8. Global Partnership

 

What Are the Specific Ministries of Jubilee at Christ Church?

Jubilee Ministries can sometimes be thought of those activities that focus on "outreach", and we can categorize our current ministries into three groups: Global/National Ministries of the Episcopal Church, the Companion Diocese Program, and all those that fall into our Community Ministries (happening locally).

Jubilee Ministries is a Commissioned Ministry of Christ Church.

Join the monthly meetings, which are generally the fourth Monday of the month at 7 p.m.

Your Commissioner in this ministry is Leslee Sandberg. Your Vestry Liason to this ministry is also Leslee.
