Troop 2 Vision
Troop 2, Boy Scouts of America, strives to provide the opportunity for every special needs boy to experience all the adventures and opportunities Scouting offers through a troop that is developed and paced to meet their individual needs and ambitions.
Troop History
Originally founded as Troop 2, BSA in September 1923 as part of Cedar Rapids introduction to the Scouting movement of Lord Baden Powell. The Troop nurtured youth over 5 decades, casing its colors in 1973.
In 2010, on the day and year of the 100 year anniversary of Scouting in America, we reactivated the troop for high functioning boys with special needs in the Cedar Rapids and surrounding community area.
After 25 years without a special needs troop in the area, we now offer a unique opportunity to enjoy Scouting, have fun and learn to be a future leader in our community and nation.
Troop 2’s Roadmap
Camping and outdoor activities regularly brings together friendship, new adventures in the outdoors, learning scout skills and having FUN in all we do. We meet weekly, participating in learning new skills, having fun activities, learning about our community, our nation, and the world. Each Scout gets the chance to grow at his own pace to the level which he feels most comfortable. Each boy is unique.
Swimming, hiking, bike riding, camping, cooking, fishing, learning about nature, helping in our community are a few of our activities. Working with local agencies, we partner to develop the boys into Scouts by preparing them for more independence and leadership within the special needs community at their pace.
With the growth of leaders, our Troop intends to showcase our uniqueness and commitment.
