Youth Serve Annual
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

The annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake
Supper is served Tuesday, Feb. 28, 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Christ Episcopal
Church, 220 40th Street NE in the Parish Hall downstairs. Elevator assistance is available at
the East entrance. Cost for the dinner is $5 for adults, $3 for children
12 and under, or $15 for a family. The all-you-can-eat meal features
pancakes, regular or blueberry, with butter and syrup, sausage, apple
sauce, juice, milk and coffee.
All proceeds from the dinner support
the Journey to Adulthood, a youth ministries program for young people
beginning in seventh grade and continuing through high school. The supper
is prepared and served by the youth of the parish as a fund-raiser for
mission trips, and spiritual journeys such as pilgrimages throughout the
United States.
According to Beth Tygart, organizer
of the event, “The youth look forward to working on Shrove Tuesday, and
members of the congregation invite their neighbors and friends to an
evening of fun, fellowship and great food. Also, as in recent years, we
will be delivering the supper meal to our homebound members.”
Shrove
Tuesday is an Episcopal tradition in which pancakes are served prior to
the beginning of the Lenten season on Ash Wednesday.
