As a parish continues to grow, clear organization of people and opportunities is necessary to enable all members to find their niche in the life of the congregation. A Parish Life Coordinator is a point of contact to help parishioners "plug in" to the life of the church. This happens through parishioners’ giving of time and talent to ministry within and outside the church and also through the fellowship of the parish. Working closely with clergy and staff, the Parish Life Coordinator evaluates ministries and general parish activities, recommending paths for growing parish involvement. Working with other lay leaders, the Parish Life Coordinator also helps to plan and promote regular and special events.

Our Parish Life Coordinator works a half-time week and is available by appointment (day or evening) to meet with lay leaders, parishioners seeking involvement, and new members interested in the programs and activities of the church. The Coordinator will also attend weekly staff meetings and monthly Vestry meetings, as well as being generally available in the church on Sunday mornings.

A lay ministry professional, Lisa Butler is a former Parish Administrator of St. Barnabas’, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and our current (and continuing) Children’s Music Minister at Christ Church. She is also an active volunteer assistant to our Office Manager and an accredited Godly Play teacher.

Lisa’s husband, Matt, is a Rite 13 leader and they have two sons, Ian, 10, and Noah, 4. The Butlers live in Central City (in process of relocating to Cedar Rapids) and have been members of Christ Church since 1999.
