Pastoral Care at Christ Church
The ministry of Pastoral Care at Christ Church is to celebrate life’s joys and bear one another’s burdens and sorrows in fulfillment of God’s command to love one another as God loves us. We seek to connect with parishioners within the Christ Church community in order to provide a network of care in various ways. Some of those ways include:
PARISH NURSE - Our Parish Nurse is a licensed nurse who has additional training from Mercy Hospital’s Parish Nursing Program. The nurse conducts monthly blood pressure screenings as well as provide educational information and telephone support. The nurse acts as medical consultant/representative for the congregation.
THE WORSHIP PRAYER TEAM - The Worship Prayer partners are available in the narthex each Sunday to pray for those who have any concerns, intercessions, or thanksgivings after receiving communion. Team members come from volunteers whose focus is on healing prayer or prayer and service.
PRAYERS - One of the most important things we do is pray for each other. There is a daily prayer chain available to pray for you. On Sundays at worship this is typically for those who are in any kind of need, for those serving in the military overseas, and for those who have died. If there is anyone you would like us to pray for, please call or send an e-mail to the church office. You can also add names to the monthly prayer list in the same way. This list is "refreshed" on the first of every month
LAY EUCHARISTIC VISITORS - Eucharistic Ministers share the reserved sacrament of Holy Eucharist with parishioners who could not be present with us at weekend worship and also at times of special needs situations. Training is available for volunteers who would like to become a Eucharistic Visitor.
ETC! PRAYER SHAWL AND BLANKET MINISTRY – Prayer shawls as well as lap and baby blankets are available in the Pastoral Care office for sharing with those who will benefit as a receiver. Any member of our congregation can pick one up to give to someone. Donations of handmade shawls and blankets are also gathered for blessing, prayer and distribution. Some members of this group meet every first Friday of each month at church. Anyone is welcomed to participate in this ministry.
HEALING TOUCH - Each month, trained practitioners offer appointments for individuals to receive healing and prayer using the Healing Touch method: the art of hands-on healing and anointing with essential oils.
MEALS - Meals are coordinated through the meal ministry for those who may appreciate a daily meal delivery while going through rehab, recovering from surgery or any other situation at home.
WORSHIP FLOWERS - Every Sunday the flowers from worship are removed from the altar for volunteers to take to homebound and hospitalized parishioners. At each holiday, we share the flowers that have adorned the church with parishioners that have been homebound or facing a challenging situation.
