PRISON MINISTRY

This is the eighth year for the Anamosa Sate Penitentiary Episcopal Prison Ministry. This work officially became part of the Christ Church Cedar Rapids Jubilee Ministry in 2001.  Currently, the team consists of three persons:  Melody from Christ Episcopal Church; Chuck from Trinity Church in Waterloo; and, Rev. Anne from St. Mark's in Anamosa.

Approximately two to 12 men participate weekly in Bible study, which currently is a formal study program called Discovering the Bible that is part of the Kerygma Bible Studies Program.

Eucharist is celebrated regularly on the fourth Sunday of each month.  The team is also able to provide Eucharist or other services at the prison on special days such as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Christmas Day.

An EFM (Education for Ministry) group was started in the prison this fall.
