PEACE
AND JUSTICE
The
Peace and Justice Ministry consists of groups that strive to enhance the sense
of community within our city. One of these initiatives is "Dinner at
Our House," which is a dinner open to members of the Cedar Rapids
community.
|
"Dinner
at Our House" is part of the building-community component in
the local Restorative Justice movement. The premise is that in
order to feel safe in our community, we should know our neighbors.
Being able to talk to a stranger and feel safe helps to strengthen the
community. This diverse group helps to dispel myths about people
who are different from "me." |

Churches
United focuses on Restorative Justice and the many things we can do in a
community to restore it to wholeness. This has included helping
people reincorporate after a period of incarceration. It is
difficult to come back into a community after being in jail.
This effort strives to teach how to welcome people back into daily life. |
